At the Askifou Plateau just below the mountain village of Imbros begins the 8km long trail passing
through the Imbros gorge, offering a great and fun hiking experience!
After a short coffee-break upon arrival, the walk starts at an altitude of 780 m. and ends at Komitades village, almost at sea level. The gorge has impressive “gates” and the narrowest spot in the gorge is only 2 m. wide. The path is stony though the walk is not particularly difficult and never steep. The average walking time is 2 – 3 hours.
A visit to the south coast of Crete for a refreshing swim completes this active excursion-day!
The Imbros walk is shorter than the Samaria gorge and also very impressive with some spectacular sections and beautiful wild nature. Clients always remain enthusiastic after this fantastic walking experience.
Not included: the entrance fee to the gorge.
Coffee/ meals are not included (tavern at the end of the walk).
Good health/shape and appropriate shoe-wear are required!
Bring along: a photo camera, a cap, water and a snack, bathing suit+towel.
